Welcome to the web archive of Northwest Neighbors, a storytelling project inspired by forgotten slide film. The images are mundane yet evocative, showing ordinary slices of life in the Pacific Northwest. 10 writers contributed short fiction stories and accompanying audio exploring their origins. We built a physical installation with Austin-based tech/arts collective vurv wiring the photos to an iPad that allowed viewers to select an image and hear its story. The installation debuted at Art Island in February 2019.
